America’s Team Back To Their Winning Ways

There is something brewing in the Garveys dugout lately, and it spells victory for the Garveys and pain for their opponents. After dropping 5 in a row earlier this season, the Garveys look a lot like the team that won the Batbreaker Series last year, actually they look a lot better. The Garveys blanked the formidable Jerk Fuzzballs in Sunday’s game, without a single hit from major power-provider Justin Bour. In fact, each position player besides Bour had a hit with most also contributing an RBI as well!

“You know, it was a Batbreaker Series re-match, and we showed up to play” said the recently acquired outfielder Lorenzo Cain “and I really brought the pain today” he said with a smile.

“JB (Bour) was the leader out there today” said teammate Byron Buxton “man, he was making calls while he was up to bat telling runners to go and stuff, then on D he was telling all of us where to play for each pitch and for each count – it worked man, they was hittin’ em right at us. That dude knows his stuff”. †††††††

“Justin looked really good out there today” added Garvey second baseman and fan favorite Whit Merrified “even though his box score doesn’t show it, his uniform was very crisp and clean. He looked like a real fan favorite today.”

Bour was his usual humble self ” It was a real team effort, and it should be a wake up call to the rest of the league that America’s Team is back! It was really, really nice to blank them on their home turf, I felt like we got a partial refund for the pummeling we took earlier this year from them.”

Garveys opener Phil Hughes got the team off on the right foot and even contributed offensively with an RBI base hit. “Hughsey was on fire today, he ran into a bit of trouble but was able to get out of it” said Garveys catcher Garver “I thought he could pitch the whole game but Steve’s the man – he probably saw something I didn’t” continued Garver.

“Our bullpen was exceptional today” said Steve Garvey, manager of the Garveys “Phil gave us five solid innings, but I could tell he was getting tired. Iggy and Trev were solid, and of course AJ was lights out. I couldn’t be more proud of those guys” added Garvey.

The Garveys meet the red-hot Need Chickens next.
